In separate incidents in Cobourg, two men are in trouble with the law for drug-related offenses, resulting in the seizure of fentanyl and cocaine.
On the evening of October 28, police made the first arrest after spotting a man who had breached his release order conditions. Matthew Lebold, 34, from Cobourg, was apprehended with 15.64 grams of suspected fentanyl, 5.5 grams of suspected cocaine, and cash in his possession. The seized fentanyl is valued at approximately $2,100 on the street. Lebold faces charges for possession of controlled substances with intent to traffic and possession of proceeds of crime.
Lebold has a history of legal issues, having been arrested eight times since October 2024 and facing a total of 11 charges, including drug trafficking and firearm-related offenses.
Later that night, during a traffic stop around 12:30 a.m. on October 29, officers made another drug seizure when they noticed a passenger possessing a controlled substance. The passenger, identified as 39-year-old Kyle Grieder from Hamilton Township, was found with 379 grams of suspected fentanyl, 45.64 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, and cash. The estimated street value of the seized fentanyl is approximately $156,200. Grieder faces charges for possession of controlled substances with intent to traffic, possession of proceeds of crime, and failure to comply with a probation order.
