It has been over a month since 11-year-old Kai Pavlovic from Burnaby went missing, leaving his family desperately seeking answers. The Burnaby RCMP received a request for a well-being check for Kai on September 26, but he has not been located since. Despite continuous efforts, including appeals and billboards, the police have been unable to find him. They suspect he may be with a caregiver whose identity remains unknown.
Unlike cases of confirmed abduction, an amber alert has not been activated for Kai, as there is no immediate threat to his safety. Kai’s aunt from New Zealand expressed deep concern and sadness over the situation, as the family has lost contact with him since he moved to British Columbia with his mother and stepfather in 2023.
Responding to inquiries, the Burnaby RCMP stated that there are no new developments in the search for Kai. Private investigator Steve Hoffman raised questions about the circumstances surrounding Kai’s disappearance, wondering about the role of the caregiver and the involvement of other individuals. While acknowledging the limitations faced by the police, Hoffman suggested that technological resources could potentially aid in locating Kai.
Described as 5 feet tall with a thin build and brown hair, Kai’s photos have been shared by the police to assist in his identification. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999.
