Commuters along Lakeshore West GO Line in for Schedule Changes
Due to “critical” track work, commuters traveling on a section of the Lakeshore West GO line should be prepared for schedule adjustments affecting services on Sunday and Monday.
The provincial transit agency has announced that there will be no GO train service between Oakville GO and Union Station on November 2 and 3, as work progresses on replacing the Etobicoke Creek bridge.
Metrolinx had postponed this work on multiple weekends during the Toronto Blue Jays’ playoff run. With the World Series concluding on Saturday night, completing this essential work is crucial to ensuring the safety and reliability of services on the Lakeshore West line.
During November 2 and 3, Lakeshore West trains will operate on a 30-minute schedule between Niagara Falls and Oakville GO. Furthermore, there will be no GO Transit services available at Port Credit, Long Branch, and west of Mimico GO.
On Sunday, GO buses will be running between Oakville and Clarkson GO to transport passengers to Bramalea GO, where they can catch eastbound Kitchener line trains heading to Union Station. Similarly, there will be no GO Transit service at Port Credit, Long Branch, Mimico, or west of Exhibition GO. Special trains will be operating between Exhibition GO and Union Station.
As for Monday, GO buses will be shuttling passengers between Oakville and Clarkson GO to Erindale or Bramalea GO, where travelers can transfer to eastbound train services on the Milton and Kitchener lines headed to Union Station. Additional eastbound and westbound trips have been added on the Milton line to facilitate commuters reaching Union Station. In addition, special trains will be running on a 30-minute schedule between Mimico GO and Union Station.
Metrolinx has also announced that on November 4, two early morning inbound trains will commence from Appleby GO and Aldershot GO, with regular service expected to resume at 5:52 a.m.
Commuters are urged to review GO train schedules as some trip times may differ from the usual timings.
