Get ready to grow your moustache for a cause as Movember, the annual fundraiser supporting prostate cancer and men’s health initiatives, begins this Saturday. Beyond just raising funds, Movember is championing advocacy efforts for the first time in its history.
Mitch Hermansen, director of fundraising and development at Movember Canada, shared the organization’s new direction: “We are expanding our focus to include advocacy and government relations to push for a national men’s health strategy. This is a significant step towards making a lasting impact across Canada.”
In a groundbreaking move, Movember Canada has released a comprehensive report titled “The Real Face of Men’s Health,” based on research involving over 3,000 Canadians. The report sheds light on concerning statistics, such as the fact that 44% of Canadian men may not live to age 75.
Movember’s evolution goes beyond just growing moustaches. Participants are finding unique ways to support the cause, like the individual who climbed stairs at Wreck Beach 100 times in a day last year. These diverse initiatives not only raise awareness but also inspire communities to rally behind the movement.
Join the movement in any way you can, whether by growing a moustache or finding your unique way to support men’s health. Check out ca.movember.com for more information.
