Vancouver police have announced that additional charges have been filed against the suspect involved in a series of random attacks in Yaletown earlier this month.
The Vancouver Police Department reported that a 35-year-old woman was initially charged with one count of assault, but prosecutors have now approved four additional counts of assault with a weapon and another count of assault.
The incident took place near David Lam Park, where multiple individuals were stabbed on the seawall around 7:30 a.m. Emergency services responded to the scene and found three victims with minor stab wounds, all of whom were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Subsequently, four more assault victims were identified, including one individual who had been stabbed. Witness Mike Conway described his encounter with the suspect, who brandished a knife while he was walking along the seawall. He narrowly avoided being attacked and managed to escape from the scene.
The suspect, who is currently in custody, is awaiting her next court appearance.
