$69 Million Drug Bust at Vancouver Airport: Authorities Seize Record Narcotics Haul

Border officials at Vancouver International Airport intercepted drugs valued at more than $69 million intended for export.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) revealed that the drugs were discovered and confiscated on September 3 during routine checks.

The illicit substances seized included 300 blocks of compressed cocaine weighing 319 kilograms and 110 vacuum-sealed packages containing 241 kilograms of methamphetamine.

These narcotics were ingeniously hidden within a shipment of car parts slated for delivery to Australia.

Law enforcement authorities, specifically the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), took control of the confiscated drugs, and investigations into the matter are currently ongoing.

In a joint effort, CBSA officers and RCMP Border Integrity officers successfully collaborated in detecting, seizing, and investigating the narcotics, according to Stephen Lee, Acting Regional Commander at RCMP Federal Policing, Pacific Region.

By working together, they are effectively dismantling criminal networks seeking to exploit the country’s borders, ensuring the safety of local communities.

The CBSA emphasized that this interception marks one of the agency’s most significant drug seizures intended for export through the airport.

Nina Patel, CBSA’s regional director general in the Pacific Region, highlighted the importance of this seizure in preventing criminals from profiting and commended the strong partnerships with law enforcement agencies.
