Côte Saint-Luc Electoral Shocker: Mayor Brownstein Demands Recount Following Razor-Thin Loss by Just One Vote!

The closely contested mayoral race in Côte Saint-Luc took an unexpected turn as incumbent Mayor Mitchell Brownstein plans to request a recount following updated election results revealing a one-vote loss.

Initially, Sunday’s unofficial count had Brownstein leading his opponent David Tordjman by 50 votes. However, revised figures released by Élections Québec on Monday, sourced from the City of Côte Saint-Luc, showed Brownstein’s count decreasing by 38 votes while Tordjman’s increased by 13, narrowing the gap to just one vote.

Lawrence Bergman, Brownstein’s campaign Chair, expressed disbelief at the updated tally, stating, “As such we will be asking for a recount and will not have any further statement until our request for recount is heard.”

The final count now stands at 4,196 votes for Tordjman and 4,195 for Brownstein, with a voter turnout of 37%, including 229 rejected ballots. Brownstein has held the mayoral position in Côte Saint-Luc since 2016, while Tordjman previously served as city councillor for District 6 from 2017 to 2021.
