Police Crack Down on Surge of Illegal Border Crossings into Canada, Multiple Arrests Made

Four individuals were apprehended following an illegal border crossing event that took place on October 8, thanks to effective collaboration between Canadian and U.S. law enforcement agencies.

According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the group attempted to cross from the U.S. into Canada, specifically near Northwoods Road in Lynden, Washington, and 0 Avenue in Abbotsford. During the crossing, three of the suspects fled on foot into Canada as they were being pursued by officers from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Following a coordinated effort, the U.S. officers successfully located the suspects and subsequently handed them over to Canadian authorities. Additionally, the driver involved in the incident was swiftly apprehended as well.

The Canada Border Services Agency has initiated an investigation into the matter under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
