Hamilton Police are currently investigating a disturbing incident that unfolded on Hamilton Mountain in broad daylight. Two individuals broke into a home and robbed an elderly woman of her precious jewellery and belongings.
The unsettling event occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Monday when the elderly woman was alone in her residence on Fairey Crescent. The suspects, described as two males, forcibly entered through an unlocked back door. They proceeded to assault the homeowner and ransack the house, taking off with valuables, before making their escape through the front door. It is believed that a third person was waiting in a dark blue or grey Chevrolet Cruze, which the suspects used as their getaway vehicle.
Fortunately, the victim was left unharmed physically after the ordeal. However, the emotional impact of the invasion remains.
Hamilton Police have provided descriptions of the suspects and are urging local residents to be vigilant. They are also encouraging anyone with relevant surveillance footage from the area between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on the day of the incident to come forward with information.
