“Armed Home Invasion in Whitby: Three Youths Arrested, Three Suspects Still on the Loose”

Three in Custody, Three at Large After Violent Home Invasion in Whitby

Durham authorities have detained three individuals and are actively pursuing three others following a disturbing armed intrusion that shook a neighborhood in Whitby during the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The unsettling event transpired at approximately 2:50 a.m. on Nov. 4, when a group of six masked assailants forcibly entered a home near the intersection of Applewood Crescent and Applewood Avenue. The suspects reportedly used a firearm to attack the homeowner and then proceeded to demand keys to vehicles and other valuables.

The perpetrators made a swift escape in the victim’s blue Ford Raptor pickup truck and a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which they had driven to the scene. Despite attempting to steal another vehicle from the garage, their efforts were thwarted.

Shortly after, law enforcement discovered the abandoned Jeep on Highway 407. With the aid of the K9 Unit, officers successfully apprehended three suspects without any resistance. Investigations later revealed that the stolen Jeep had originated from Toronto prior to the home invasion, while the missing Ford Raptor was located and recovered in the same city.

One of the apprehended suspects, identified as 43-year-old Robin Badwah from Mississauga, faces a litany of charges, including robbery, break-and-enter, firearm-related offenses, and possession of stolen property exceeding $5,000, alongside multiple violations of court orders and probation terms.

Additionally, two youths from Toronto, aged 16 and 17, have been charged with similar crimes under the protection of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The trio of suspects is currently in custody pending a bail hearing, while efforts to locate the remaining three perpetrators are ongoing. Authorities are urging anyone in possession of relevant footage or information to assist in the investigation.
