Toronto authorities are currently looking into a recent incident where an individual was spotted carrying a firearm in a residential area of North York. This led to a precautionary hold and secure protocol being implemented in three local schools.
The Toronto police were alerted to the situation at the intersection of Jane Street and Firgrove Crescent, close to Finch Avenue West, at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
According to reports, the suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 18 years old, standing at five feet nine inches with a heavy build and sporting dreadlocks. He was reportedly dressed in a black Nike sweatsuit, black Nike Air Force Ones shoes, and a Moncler jacket.
During the investigation, Firgrove Public School, St. Francis de Sales Catholic School, and Westview Centennial Secondary School were placed under hold and secure measures, which were later lifted just after 2 p.m.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of any injuries resulting from the incident.
Authorities have assured that the investigation is still ongoing.
