CF Montreal Ousts Assistant Coach Maxime Leconte Following Disciplinary Review

CF Montreal Fires Assistant Coach After Internal Review

CF Montreal has made a coaching change by parting ways with assistant coach Maxime Leconte following an internal review process. The Major League Soccer team announced the decision on Wednesday, citing confidentiality for not disclosing specifics regarding Leconte’s departure.

Leconte, a 35-year-old French native, had a brief tenure with the club, having joined the coaching staff in May. Prior to his time with the MLS team, he had a successful five-year stint with the CF Montreal Academy, where he worked his way up from a video analyst to head coach of the U17 and U18 squads.

The decision to dismiss Leconte comes shortly after Marco Donadel was appointed as the permanent head coach of CF Montreal. Donadel initially took over in an interim role in March and navigated the team through a challenging season, culminating in a 6-18-10 record. CF Montreal notably had the youngest squad and the lowest payroll in Major League Soccer.
