A major accident involving two large trucks occurred in the early hours of Wednesday on Highway 20 near Harwood Road in Vaudreuil-Dorion, resulting in at least one person being injured.
The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) reported that the collision took place around 6 a.m., prompting emergency responders to utilize specialized tools to rescue a trapped individual from one of the vehicles involved.
SQ officials are conducting an investigation into the incident at the scene to determine the cause of the crash. Authorities are advising drivers to steer clear of the affected area.
Due to the accident, Highway 20 westbound has been shut down between Saint-Charles Ave. and Harwood Road, leading to severe traffic delays. By 7:30 a.m., traffic congestion had extended all the way to Terrasse-Vaudreuil.
The SQ has stated that the road closure is anticipated to continue for an extended period.
