Starting this Thursday, over 500 office, technical, and professional staff members at the Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ) are set to strike if no agreement is reached.
Represented by the Syndicat du personnel technique et professionnel de la SAQ (SPTP-SAQ-CSN), these employees are taking action due to dissatisfaction with the SAQ’s salary offers and the lack of a collective agreement since March. The potential strike, scheduled to last for seven days, marks a historic move for the union, which has been in existence for over 50 years.
The union’s demands, including the implementation of teleworking in the collective agreement, are at the forefront of the negotiations with the employer. The SAQ’s operations, such as managing the SAQ.com website, store supply, quality control, and payroll, heavily rely on these staff members.
