Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow fulfilled a friendly wager with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass by donning a Los Angeles Dodgers jersey in the city on Tuesday. The bet stemmed from the Toronto Blue Jays’ Game 7 loss, marking the end of their first World Series appearance since 1993.
Chow and Bass, both avid cyclists, had agreed that the losing city’s mayor would wear the opposing team’s jersey and complete a bike ride equivalent to the winning team’s run total. Ultimately, with the Dodgers winning the championship, Chow was seen sporting the Dodgers jersey in downtown Toronto.
Meanwhile, Bass celebrated the victory in Los Angeles as Dodgers fans took to the streets in jubilation. The World Series Game 7 in Toronto garnered substantial viewership, with an average of 10.9 million viewers tuning in, making it one of the most-watched English-language broadcasts in Canada after the 2010 Winter Olympics.
