VPD appeals to the public for information about Strathcona homicide

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) is asking any witnesses to a homicide in September to come forward.

On Sept. 30, just after 7 a.m., police say they were called to Main Street and Union, where they found 48-year-old Norman Labonte suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was pronounced dead shortly after being taken to hospital.

“Investigators believe there may be witnesses who have not yet spoken with police,” said Const. Tania Visintin.

“Anyone with information or dash-cam footage from the area around the time of the incident is asked to call the VPD Homicide Unit at 604-717-2500.”

On the day of the shooting, the VPD said it was unknown whether or not the suspect and victim knew each other.
