Thousands affected as power outages hit Quebec amid wintry weather

Large-scale power outages are currently impacting several regions across Quebec, with approximately 3,500 customers still reported without electricity province‑wide.

Early Monday, just under 10,000 addresses were without power, mostly in Montérégie and the Laurentians.

The Laurentides (about 1,856 customers), Montérégie (about 467 customers), Estrie (around 492 customers) and Laval (around 54 customers), according to Hydro‑Québec.

Some school service centres, including Charlevoix and Estuaire (Côte-Nord), have chosen to close their schools for the day on Monday, while others have warned that delays may occur in school transportation.

Severe weather is playing a key role in the outages.
