Ericka Alneus has been named the interim leader of Projet Montréal after being unanimously elected by her peers.
The Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie councillor was chosen by all newly elected Projet Montréal members at a caucus meeting. She will serve as leader of the Opposition at Montreal City Hall.
Alneus takes over as leader from Luc Rabouin, who stepped down following Projet’s election defeat on Nov. 2.

“I am deeply moved by this show of confidence from my colleagues,” Alneus said in a statement. “The challenges facing our city are significant, and our team will rise to the occasion and fulfill the mandate entrusted to it by the people. I am ready to bring our team together and get to work serving Montreal’s democracy.
“The strength of our party lies in our team. Citizens who reflect Montreal’s diversity. A collective intelligence that we put directly at the service of the people. Nothing makes me prouder than to take up the mantle.”
