Large parts of Quebec are still recovering after a powerful snowstorm knocked out electricity to hundreds of thousands of residents on Tuesday.
By early Wednesday morning, Hydro-Québec said roughly 72,000 customers remained without power. The most serious outages were reported in Montérégie (28,269), Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean (14,740), Lanaudière (382), and Centre-du-Québec (9,204). In Montreal, fewer than 5,000 homes were still affected.

The utility said at the peak of the storm, more than 380,000 households were left in the dark.
Repair teams have been working continuously since then, and officials expect most service to be restored before the end of the day.
Hydro-Québec urged residents to stay cautious near downed lines and to check on vulnerable neighbours as temperatures remain below freezing across much of the province.
