Martin Hak had worked as a coach for the Ridge Meadows Minor Hockey Association for over 10 years, according to an online post.
An online fundraiser has been created in Hak’s name, which has raised $28,000 so far.
“In the wake of Martin’s sudden passing, our world has been turned upside down. There are no words that can fully capture the depth of our grief, nor the gratitude we feel for the love that has surrounded us,” Hak’s wife said in a written statement.
“To everyone who has donated, shared, or simply held us in your thoughts, thank you. Your generosity through the GoFundMe page has been overwhelming in the most humbling way.”
The goal is to raise $50,000.
