Showcasing music, theatre, comedy, dance, and storytelling through a multicultural Jewish lens, The Chutzpah! Festival returns to Vancouver Wednesday.
This year, the festival marks a quarter of a century showcasing local, national, and international Jewish artists.
Managing Artistic Director Shayna Goldberg says 2025’s festival has a special focus on “true-life” stories.
“And I hope that in the years to follow, we continue to explore that sort of thing: real people, [real] stories and just the world as it is, and the world as we would like it to be,” said Goldberg.
In her first year in the role, Goldberg says she’s excited and eager to see the variety of performances.
“We have a great group of artists that are coming in to perform, to have talk backs, discussions, workshops, [it’s a] really great opportunity to see some local, national, and international work,” she said.
“We’re all excited to celebrate art.”
The festival kicks off Wednesday night, when comedian Modi Rosenfeld brings his “Pause for Laughter” tour to the Vogue Theatre.
Other highlights include “Take This Waltz: Celebrating The Music Of Leonard Cohen” on this Saturday and Sunday at the Norman And Annette Rothstein Theatre, and the West Coast debut of “8 Gays of Channukah — The Musical” Thursday night.
Tickets and showtimes can be found on the Chutzpah! Festival’s website.
