A 25-year-old man is in critical condition in hospital after being seriously injured by a sharp object during a domestic dispute on Sunday in Montreal.
A 911 call at around 3 a.m. led emergency services to the scene of the incident in an apartment on Jolicoeur St., near Beaulieu St., in the Sud-Ouest borough.
“According to initial information, a domestic dispute escalated between the suspect and the victim, at which point the suspect allegedly injured the victim with a sharp object and then fled before the police arrived,” said Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the Montreal Police Service (SPVM).
Police located the suspect about two hours later.
“At around 5:15 a.m., they located and arrested the suspect not far from the scene of the armed assault. The suspect, a 26-year-old man, was taken to the investigation center, where he will be interviewed by investigators in the coming hours,” said the SPVM spokesperson.
“The scene has been secured for investigators and forensic technicians so that they can analyze it and try to understand the exact circumstances of this event,” said Chèvrefils.
The SPVM investigation is ongoing.
