Result expected in Côte Saint-Luc mayor vote recount

The results of a recount that will determine who is the next mayor of Côte Saint-Luc are expected Monday.

A recount request was granted to longtime Côte Saint-Luc Mayor Mitchell Brownstein after results from the Nov. 2 election showed he lost by a single vote.

Challenger David Tordjman received 4,196 votes to Brownstein’s 4,195, with 229 ballot papers rejected.

Unofficial results on election night had Brownstein triumphing in the race by 50 votes. But revised figures published the next day showed the mayor’s tally drop by 38 votes and Tordjman’s increase by 13, putting him one vote behind.

More coming.
