Montreal Mayor Martinez Ferrada unveils executive committee

New Montreal Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada unveiled her executive committee on Tuesday – which will be responsible for delivering on citizens’ priorities. The committee’s first meeting will take place Thursday.

Chaired by Claude Pinard, City Councillor for the St-Jacques district, the executive committee’s main mission, according to a press release by the City, “will be to deliver effective services while optimizing the City’s resources in order to respect Montrealers’ ability to pay.”

“Our top priority is to make concrete improvements in the lives of Montrealers and enhance the quality of services offered to them. The work ahead of us is daunting, but we will act quickly, rigorously, and with determination to ensure that every decision has a rapid and real impact. The members of the executive committee will work tirelessly for citizens to achieve results that will be felt now and for years to come,” said Martinez Ferrada.

The executive committee is composed of:

In addition, Martinez Ferrada announced that Nancy Blanchet, mayor of Lasalle, and Jean-François Lalonde, mayor of Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension, will be co-chairs of the Table of mayors and will hold the title of associate advisor to the executive committee.

“This reflects Mayor Martinez Ferrada’s desire to transcend party lines in order to deliver on citizens’ priorities. This is a historic first, as all parties represented at City Hall are included in the executive committee,” explained the press release.

Associate advisors will also participate in the work of the executive committee:

Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada also appointed Julien Hénault-Ratelle as majority leader and Alexandre Devaux-Guizani as deputy leader, who will participate in executive committee meetings as non-voting members.
