Vehicle set on fire in Montreal’s St-Laurent borough

A vehicle was damaged after a fire in the Saint-Laurent borough overnight, according to Montreal Police (SPVM).

SPVM said they responded to a request from firefighters at around 12:30 a.m., for assistance with a vehicle on fire on Crépeau Street near Ashton Street.

“When police arrived on the scene, they located the vehicle in question. The fire had already been brought under control and extinguished by the firefighter on site,” Johany Charland, spokesperson for SPVM said.

No one was injured in this incident and no arrests have been made.

The vehicle sustained minor damages and no other vehicles were damaged.

Charland said that the firefighters had informed police officers that they had located incendiary materials on the scene, suggesting that the fire could be from a criminal nature.

SPVM said the investigation is still ongoing and will be transferred to the SPVM arson unit.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
