“Alert: Heavy Rainfall to Drench Lower Mainland and South Coast, Residents Urged to Prepare”

Get ready to cozy up indoors this weekend while the rain pours outside. Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for various areas in Metro Vancouver, including West Vancouver, North Vancouver, Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, and Pitt Meadows, along with Howe Sound and the scenic Sea to Sky Highway from Squamish to Brandywine.

These regions are expected to experience between 50 and 70 millimetres of rainfall, with heavy showers at times. The weather service advises that a Pacific frontal system will bring significant rainfall to the South Coast over the weekend. The rain will start lightly but intensify into heavy showers on Saturday, gradually easing off by Sunday morning as the system passes through.

Drivers are urged to be cautious as water may accumulate on roads and in low-lying areas, potentially leading to reduced visibility at times.
