Deadly Early-Morning Incident on REM Tracks in Brossard Leaves One Dead, Two Critically Injured

Tragedy struck in Brossard overnight as a 19-year-old pedestrian lost their life and two others were injured in a train accident on the REM tracks. The Sûreté du Québec reported that one of the survivors, a 22-year-old, is in critical condition, while the other 19-year-old is now stable.

The heartbreaking incident occurred around 3 a.m. on Saturday near the Du Quartier station when the pedestrians trespassed onto the tracks. Despite warnings and an approaching train, they attempted to cross, leading to the devastating collision.

REM operator Pulsar is cooperating with authorities and has suspended service between Brossard and Panama stations, with buses replacing trains in the affected area. Pulsar emphasizes the dangers of crossing REM tracks and urges the public to always prioritize safety.

As the community mourns this tragic loss, it serves as a somber reminder of the importance of respecting railway safety regulations.
