“Saturday Gridlock Alert: Convoy to Clog Downtown Vancouver Streets!”

Downtown Vancouver faced significant traffic congestion on Saturday afternoon due to a slow-moving convoy traveling from Langley to Kitsilano.

Reports from 1130 NewsRadio described the traffic jam with a line of vehicles slowly making their way, adorned with Canadian flags and drivers honking their horns. One caller described the scene in Gastown, mentioning people waving on the streets but also advising others to avoid the downtown area.

The convoy, identified as Farmers Protest Canada, is not formally associated with mainstream agricultural organizations according to their social media profiles. Online organizers highlighted the recent controversial ostrich cull by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency in Edgewood as one of the reasons for the protest.

Similar convoys organized by Farmers Protest Canada were planned for other Canadian cities on the same day.

Efforts to gather more information from event organizers and the Vancouver Police Department are ongoing.
