Magnus Brunner, the European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration, emphasized the importance of global cooperation in combatting organized crime during a recent meeting of G7 interior and security ministers in Ottawa.
At the gathering, Brunner highlighted the need for increased collaboration between countries to address the growing sophistication and global reach of organized crime groups. He praised Canada’s efforts in tackling these criminal networks and stressed the significance of information sharing in the fight against activities like the drug trade.
The G7 meeting, which included representatives from leading economies such as Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union, focused on various challenges beyond organized crime. Discussions also covered topics like migrant smuggling, the intimidation of diaspora communities by authoritarian regimes, and strategies to combat online terrorism, cybercrime, and child exploitation.
The two-day event, which concluded today, aimed to foster dialogue and cooperation on critical security issues affecting the international community.
