Opération Nez Rouge, a beloved holiday tradition, is gearing up for its 42nd edition and is in need of volunteers to ensure safe rides home for partygoers. From November 28 to December 31, the organization is calling on the public to join in and be part of this heartwarming initiative.
Last year, over 20,000 volunteers played a vital role in getting more than 20,000 revelers home safely. With a similar target this year, Opération Nez Rouge’s Executive Director Marilyn Vigneault emphasizes the importance of community involvement.
Vigneault shares, “The more volunteers we have, the better we can provide this service. Joining us not only fosters solidarity but also leads to memorable encounters and adds to the festive spirit of the season.”
Demand for volunteers is especially high during the weekends of December 5-6 and 12-13, coinciding with office party season. However, Vigneault stresses the need for volunteers on all operating dates, highlighting the rewarding and enjoyable experience that comes with being part of Opération Nez Rouge.
In a new development this year, individuals can now request a ride home through a mobile app, making the process even more convenient. While the service remains free, donations are appreciated, with contributions over the years totaling over $36 million, benefitting youth organizations throughout Quebec.
Vigneault encourages everyone to utilize the service, emphasizing that Opération Nez Rouge is not just for those who have been drinking but for anyone in need of a safe ride home for any reason.
For those interested in volunteering, registration can be done through the Opération Nez Rouge mobile app or website. Don’t miss this opportunity to make a difference this holiday season and be part of a cherished community initiative.
