A ballet company’s Ontario-wide holiday tour faces uncertainty as their truck, carrying essential sets and backdrops for The Nutcracker production, was stolen from a lot in Etobicoke. Ballet Jörgen’s general manager, Stephen Word, is appealing to the public for help in locating the stolen truck, emphasizing the urgency as the company is currently on tour across Ontario.
According to Word, the truck was last seen on McLaughlin Road in Mississauga early Monday morning. The missing truck is a white 2026, 26-foot International Penske with Ontario license plate CD50 229. Inside the vehicle were the invaluable sets and backdrops for The Nutcracker: A Canadian Tradition, vital for their holiday tour.
The company, whose tour recently kicked off in North Bay, had plans to visit 12 more Ontario communities before December 31, but now faces the risk of canceling dates due to the theft. Ballet Jörgen expressed concern for the potential impact on thousands of Ontario families who were eagerly anticipating the performances.
Toronto police have acknowledged the theft and initiated an investigation to locate the stolen truck and its contents.
