A Toronto Woman Faces Multiple Charges After Dramatic Car Chase in Oshawa

Durham authorities have reported that a woman from Toronto is in trouble with the law following a high-speed chase with police that ended in a crash into a large boulder in Oshawa.

The event unfolded in the early hours of Friday, Nov. 21, as officers on patrol tried to pull over a vehicle near King Street West and Thornton Road South.

Despite police activating their emergency lights, the driver refused to stop, leading to a brief pursuit that was quickly called off when the driver sped away recklessly.

Shortly afterward, law enforcement located the abandoned suspect vehicle near Park Road and Hillside Avenue, where it had crashed into a boulder, and the driver had fled on foot.

After a search of the area, officers apprehended the suspect, who was taken to the hospital for minor injuries sustained in the collision. It was revealed that the woman was also facing other outstanding charges.

Kathleen Mary Laffan, 39, of Toronto, is now facing a list of criminal charges, including evading police, reckless driving, and multiple traffic violations.

The accused has been released under specific conditions, as confirmed by the police.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have footage of the incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
