Search Halted: No Sign of Missing 84-Year-Old on Grouse Mountain

The search for an 84-year-old man who went missing on Grouse Mountain has been suspended indefinitely by North Shore Rescue (NSR).

Won Kil Kim, who has been missing since Sunday, Nov. 16, took the gondola up the mountain before disappearing.

Despite extensive search efforts by NSR crews throughout the week, including looking for clues such as his hiking gear or tracks, Kim has not been located.

NSR spokesperson Al McMordie stated that the search has been put on hold until new information or evidence arises. However, team members will continue to monitor the mountain for any signs of Kim.

Kim, a resident of Surrey, is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall and 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a grey rain jacket, purple gloves, and using hiking poles.

The search was temporarily halted over the weekend due to poor weather conditions. McMordie emphasized the importance of informing loved ones about hiking plans to ensure prompt action in case of emergencies.
