“Sûreté du Québec Headquarters Illuminated by SOS Domestic Violence Logo in Bold Stand Against Women’s Abuse”

In a show of solidarity against domestic violence, the headquarters of Sûreté du Québec is illuminated with a striking five-story-high white ribbon and the SOS Domestic Violence logo. This marks the beginning of the 12 Days of Action Against Violence Against Women.

Johanne Beausoleil, Director General of Sûreté du Québec, expressed gratitude towards the police officers and civilians dedicated to combating intimate partner violence. The projection on the headquarters’ façade serves as a beacon of support, visible nightly from Nov. 24 to Dec. 6, emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility in the fight against domestic violence.

Jocelyne Jolin, Director of SOS Domestic Violence, highlighted the collaboration among various sectors to ensure the safety and respect of women affected by domestic violence. This initiative aligns with the upcoming National Coordinated Operation on Intimate Partner Violence on Nov. 26.

Caroline Proulx, Minister Responsible for Housing and Minister Responsible for the Status of Women, emphasized the need for community awareness and participation in ending violence against women. Janie Béïque, President and CEO of the Fonds de solidarité FTQ, emphasized the collective duty to translate hope into tangible actions for a society where safety and respect are inherent rights.

For those experiencing domestic violence, support is available through SOS Domestic Violence at 1 800 363-9010 or by texting 438 601-1211.
