Saint-Laurent Cracks Down on Noise Pollution: New Rules Target Roaring Vehicles!

The Saint-Laurent Borough Cracks Down on Noisy Vehicles
The Saint-Laurent borough has taken a firm stance against noisy vehicles, implementing stricter regulations to deter loud cars, commercial vehicles, and heavy trucks. In a move to minimize disturbances caused by blaring radios and revving engines, the borough recently approved amendments to its nuisance by-law during a council meeting on Nov. 25.

The updated by-law now encompasses a wider range of activities classified as excessive vehicle noise, including the misuse of horns, tire squealing, clattering parts, excessively loud exhaust systems, and unnecessary engine revving during various maneuvers. Additionally, noise emanating from onboard speakers or sound systems can also lead to penalties.

Mayor Alan DeSousa emphasized that these changes are crucial in upholding the well-being of Saint-Laurent residents. “Saint-Laurent prides itself on being a family-friendly community, and safeguarding the tranquility and overall quality of life in our neighborhoods is paramount,” stated Mayor DeSousa in a press release.

Residents and drivers are urged to play their part in reducing avoidable noise to create a more peaceful and harmonious living environment within the borough.
