TTC Community Devastated: Veteran Train Operator Tragically Murdered in Brampton Violence

The Toronto transit workers’ union is mourning the loss of a beloved TTC train operator who was tragically shot in Brampton last weekend.

A shocking incident unfolded as 25-year-old Nicholas Jaglal allegedly shot his father, Arnold Jaglal, before fleeing the scene. A police manhunt ensued, leading to Nicholas’s arrest. He now faces charges of second-degree murder and attempted murder.

The tragic event took place at the Jaglal family home on Clearjoy Street in Brampton. Police responded to a call around 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, discovering Arnold Jaglal, a man in his 50s and a dedicated train operator for 26 years, with fatal gunshot wounds.

Arnold Jaglal was described as an outdoors enthusiast and skilled craftsman in his obituary, known for his passion for fishing and hunting, as well as his craftsmanship in making humidors.

The ATU Local 113, representing Toronto transit workers, expressed condolences for the loss of their member, emphasizing that the tragic incident was unrelated to work. The union has reached out to the family and requested privacy during this difficult time.

Authorities have confirmed that there were other individuals present during the shooting, suggesting a possible attempted murder of another person, though no further injuries were reported.

As the investigation continues, details remain scarce, leaving the community shocked and saddened by the unexpected loss.
