“Illuminate Your Weekend: Nathan Phillips Square Glows with Dazzling Cavalcade of Lights Display!”

As winter arrives, the city is aglow with festive cheer as Christmas markets and tree lightings are in full swing. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the One-of-a-Kind show and the Cavalcade of Lights are the highlights of the weekend.

However, commuters should note that there will be a Line 2 subway closure, with UP Express services being replaced by buses and adjustments on several GO lines due to construction activities.

Join in the magical atmosphere at Nathan Phillips Square on Saturday night, where the annual lighting event will dazzle visitors with live performances, carolers, and the grand Christmas Tree Lighting at 6:30 p.m., continuing until 11 p.m.

The Cavalcade of Lights transforms City Hall into a winter wonderland with live entertainment and festive decorations. Additionally, the square will feature an ice skating rink throughout the winter, with free skate rentals every Saturday evening in December.

For a unique shopping experience, head to the One-of-a-Kind show, now in its 50th year, showcasing a diverse range of Canadian artisanal products including fashion, art, food, and toys. This year, the show introduces a vintage section and a European-style Christmas Market, along with a special Northwest Territories pop-up showcasing regional artistry.

Over at Harbourfront, Winterfest 2025 promises a festive wonderland with a holiday tree lighting ceremony, free skate rentals, live performances, a Winter Maze, and more. The festival will run until December 31 on weekends.

Evergreen Brickworks will host a Winter Market every Sunday featuring local artisans, a Winter Garden with fire pits, food vendors, and skating. The market also offers holiday workshops with registration required.

For transportation updates, please note the Line 2 weekend closure, UP Express service adjustments by buses, and the service changes on GO lines due to construction. Details can be found on the respective transit websites.
