Montreal Police Probe Second Mysterious Blaze at Private Home This Week

The arson squad of the Montreal Police Service (SPVM) is looking into a second fire that occurred at a residential property in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville neighborhood.

According to authorities, a 911 call was made at 12:30 a.m. reporting a fire on the garage door of a house located on Beau-Bois Ave. near Beau-Bois Crescent. Both police officers and firefighters responded to the scene.

Thankfully, despite people being inside the house at the time of the incident, no injuries were reported. However, the garage door sustained some damage.

SPVM spokesperson Jeanne Drouin mentioned that evidence of accelerant was discovered at the scene, prompting further investigation by the arson squad. The team is set to interview witnesses and review any available camera footage.

This recent event marks the second occurrence at the same property, as Drouin confirmed. On November 26, a car parked in the driveway of the same building was set ablaze, prompting another 911 call at around 10:20 p.m.

Although the Montreal Fire Department swiftly extinguished the flames with minimal damage to the vehicle and no injuries, at least one suspect was reported to have been seen fleeing the scene before the arrival of law enforcement.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with either incident, and investigations are ongoing.
