St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation is gearing up for the magical Lights of Hope display, which kicks off on Thursday evening to celebrate its 28th year.
Sheila Biggers, the foundation’s president and CEO, emphasizes the significance of this event as a vital annual fundraiser. The proceeds from Lights of Hope will support crucial research, necessary equipment, and exceptional talent at the hospital.
Beyond fundraising, the event is a beacon of comfort and hope for patients during the holiday season. Biggers highlights how seeing the dazzling lights outside their windows reminds patients that they are supported by their community.
With a fundraising target of $3.7 million this year, matching last year’s success is the ultimate goal for the foundation.
The spectacle includes thousands of lights and stars, meticulously installed by dedicated volunteers ranging from engineers to construction workers. Families are invited to partake in festive activities such as taking photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, enjoying musical performances, participating in a 50-50 raffle, and sipping on hot beverages while basking in the glow of the lights.
The grand event commences at 6 p.m. outside St. Paul’s Hospital, with the official lighting ceremony scheduled for 6:55 p.m.
