Toronto Police Hunts for Perpetrator in Unprovoked North York Attack

Toronto authorities are seeking the public’s assistance to locate a man linked to an assault incident resulting in a victim being hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, November 26, around 5:50 p.m. in the vicinity of Yonge Street and Empress Avenue. According to investigators, the victim was walking in the area when an unknown suspect approached from behind and carried out the assault.

The victim, who did not have any prior acquaintance with the suspect, was taken to a Toronto hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The wanted individual, identified as 33-year-old Cassim Cummings from Toronto, is accused of assault causing bodily harm. Described as five-foot-ten tall, weighing 165 pounds, with a slender physique, short black hair, and a black beard, Cummings is being sought by law enforcement.

A photo of Cummings has been made public by the police, with a plea for anyone spotting him to refrain from approaching and instead immediately contact 9-1-1.
