43-Year-Old Woman Faces Assault Charges After Clash at North York Protest

Over the weekend, a woman from Mississauga was taken into custody after being accused of an assault at a protest held in North York.

The incident unfolded on Nov. 23 when Dina Sheikh Saleem, 43, was participating in a demonstration near Bathurst Street and Sheppard Avenue West.

The neighborhood of Bathurst Manor, known for its substantial Jewish community, has witnessed a series of protests following the Hamas-led attack on Israel on Oct. 7 and the subsequent conflict.

According to law enforcement officials, a man walking along the sidewalk around 1:45 p.m. was allegedly accosted by Saleem, who reportedly obstructed his path and then proceeded to physically harm him. Fortunately, no injuries were sustained by the victim.

Saleem was observed at another protest in the same vicinity on Nov. 30, leading to her arrest and charges of assault.

She is set to make a court appearance on Feb. 7, 2026.
