A man, aged 60, is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in Pickering over the weekend.
According to Durham Regional Police, the accident occurred at approximately 10:40 a.m. on Nov. 29 at the intersection of Kingston Road and Fairport Road. The pedestrian was walking along the side of the road when a white SUV veered off course and collided with him.
The injured man was swiftly taken to a trauma center in Toronto, where he continues to fight for his life.
The driver of the SUV, a 46-year-old individual, remained on the scene and is assisting law enforcement with their inquiries.
Law enforcement officials were present at the crash site to collect evidence. Kingston Road was shut down for several hours to facilitate the investigation.
Authorities are seeking the public’s help in the case. Anyone in possession of cellphone footage, dash cam videos, security camera footage, or details related to the incident is urged to get in touch with the police.
