“Train Tracks Cleared and Back in Business After Spectacular Derailment Near Cranbrook!”

A Canadian Pacific Kansas City train experienced a derailment near Cranbrook, B.C., with 12 rail cars affected. The incident, which took place in a remote area of the Regional District of East Kootenay, involved cars carrying wood products and propane tanks. Cleanup efforts have been completed, and the railway corridor has reopened following safety inspections.

The Ministry of Environment and Parks confirmed that most of the rail cars were carrying non-dangerous goods, although lumber from one car spilled into the Kootenay River. While one propane tank was reported to be leaking, it was safely repositioned by a dangerous goods team for offloading in the following days.

Fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities from the derailment. The cause of the incident is currently being investigated by the railway company.
