GO Transit will be making some changes to its Lakeshore West train service this month, affecting riders’ travel plans. The transit agency will be temporarily suspending service on parts of the line for three consecutive weekends due to construction work.
In a notice to GO Transit riders, it was announced that the service suspensions will occur on the weekends of December 6-7, 13-14, and 20-21, in connection with the replacement of the Etobicoke Creek rail bridge just west of Long Branch station. Furthermore, late-night service on the Fridays before these weekends will also be impacted.
While the specific details of the construction work were not disclosed by officials, they emphasized the importance of the project in maintaining safe and reliable service. A crane will be set up near the creek to aid in replacing the century-old bridge during the winter.
During the affected weekends, GO Transit service will be adjusted, and riders are advised to utilize local transit options at the affected stations to access alternative services to and from downtown Toronto.
