Jury Convicts Man in 2018 Gang-Related Murder of Vancouver Teenager

After a tragic incident that occurred over seven years ago in Vancouver, justice has finally been served as a 29-year-old man has been found guilty in connection to the death of an innocent teen during a gang fight.

The BC Prosecution Service has confirmed that Kane Carter has been convicted of two counts of second-degree murder following the incident that took place on a Vancouver street. It was revealed that Carter, who had ties to gang activity, was allegedly targeting a rival at a restaurant near Broadway and Ontario Street in Mount Pleasant back in January 2018 when the fatal altercation occurred, resulting in the deaths of 15-year-old Alfred Wong and 23-year-old Kevin Whiteside.

After being on the run, Carter was apprehended in Ontario in 2022 and faced charges for the heinous crimes he committed. Following a retrial that commenced in October 2025 due to a deadlocked jury in the previous trial, justice has now been served.

The BC Prosecution Service has indicated that Carter will be returning to court on December 10 to set a date for his sentencing hearing.
