Canadian law enforcement agencies joined forces in a major operation called National Fentanyl Sprint 2.0, as announced by the RCMP. This initiative, spearheaded by the Canadian Integrated Response to Organized Crime (CIROC), resulted in the confiscation of a significant amount of fentanyl totaling 386 kg and $13.46 million in cash. The operation led to a total of 8,136 arrests.
Commencing on May 20 and concluding on Oct. 31, 2025, the extensive probe involved multiple law enforcement agencies across Canada. Throughout the investigation, authorities targeted fentanyl dealers, production facilities, distribution networks, and financial supporters, as highlighted by the RCMP.
Emphasizing the significance of financial investigations, the Sprint 2.0 operation aimed to dismantle the economic foundations of organized crime, serving as a crucial deterrent for long-term success, according to an official statement.
Addressing the pressing public health and safety risks associated with the presence of such substances in the illicit drug trade remains a top priority for Canada, the RCMP emphasized.
