Ponce, a 31-year-old pitcher, most recently played in the major leagues in 2021 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, where he posted a 7.04 ERA along with 36 strikeouts and 11 walks in 38.1 innings pitched. Since then, he has showcased his skills in various international leagues such as the Japan Pacific League, Japan Eastern League, and the KBO in South Korea.
