Despite the former Hudson’s Bay and Saks Fifth Avenue building now standing empty, the spirit of the holiday season will still shine bright through the festive windows along Yonge, Bay, and Richmond streets.
Cadillac Fairview, the building’s owner, recently revealed that the beloved holiday-themed windows will make a return in 2025. In a statement, Cadillac Fairview expressed pride in reviving this cherished Toronto tradition at the iconic location.
While a brand has already secured the display space for the Yonge Street windows, opportunities for showcasing in the Bay and Richmond windows are still available. Cadillac Fairview emphasized that these decorative windows are evolving into more than just seasonal displays, transforming into a year-round experiential marketing platform for external brands, cultural institutions, and charities.
Construction for the Ontario Line currently obstructs the Queen Street windows, but the rest are set to be unveiled on December 14 and will enchant viewers throughout the holiday season and into the new year.
Hudson’s Bay, which closed all its stores on June 1, faced financial challenges that led to the termination of over 8,000 employees following the company’s filing for creditor protection in March. The renowned Canadian department store cited various factors such as a slow post-COVID-19 recovery, reduced downtown foot traffic, and trade disputes with the U.S. as contributing to its financial difficulties.
