“Physician Faces Sentencing for Illegally Supplying Ketamine to ‘Friends’ Icon Matthew Perry Prior to Fatal Overdose”

A Los Angeles doctor, Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who admitted to selling ketamine to actor Matthew Perry prior to Perry’s overdose, is set to be the first of five people sentenced in the case on Wednesday. The prosecution is seeking a three-year prison sentence for Plasencia, who illegally provided large amounts of ketamine to Perry, despite knowing about Perry’s struggles with addiction. Perry, known for his role as Chandler Bing on the hit TV show “Friends,” had been using ketamine legally for depression treatment before turning to Plasencia for higher quantities. Plasencia’s lawyers portrayed him as a doctor who made a grave mistake and has faced significant consequences, including losing his medical license and career. Perry’s family and other affected individuals will have the opportunity to speak at the sentencing hearing in federal court.
