Sleeping Driver Plows Through Light Poles in Markham, Police Report

A driver’s alleged sleep-induced crash leads to the closure of an intersection in Markham until Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred at Markham Street and Bullock Drive in the early hours of the morning when the driver reportedly fell asleep at the wheel, resulting in the SUV colliding with three light poles before coming to a halt on a nearby lawn. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in the accident.

York Regional Police (YRP) responded to the scene north of Highway 7 at around 1:30 a.m. The driver’s condition led to speculation about potential charges, although no official statements have been released regarding this matter.

Due to the collision, the affected intersection is anticipated to remain closed for several hours until at least the early afternoon as authorities work to clear the area and ensure safety.
